This past year I have truly had the best of the best in clients. They are all in genuine people and I have loved being around all of them.
Matt and Brooke are no different. My first meeting with them is probably my most favorite client meeting. I don't remember a time in any other one that I've laughed as much and as hard as I did with them. We just hit it off and I knew I wanted to be a part of their wedding.
As the next few months went on Brooke and I started following each other on Instagram and it was there that I learned a little bit more about her and Matt, as well as part of her story. Brooke heartbreakingly lost her Mom in February of 2005 when she was just 17 years old. Then in October of 2006, she lost her brother. Brooke's grandmother helped raise her after Brooke's Mom passed, and when she came to visit a couple of months ago to see and help with the preparation and plans for Matt and Brooke's backyard wedding, she gave Brooke the most beautiful locket with a picture of her Mom and brother. The love of her Mom and brother was most definitely felt on the day of the wedding.
Unbelievably the morning of the wedding there was quite a rain storm going on. You can imagine how Brooke was feeling since their wedding was of course outdoors in their backyard. But at just the right time when Matt and Brooke were getting ready for their first look, the sun broke through and shined for the rest of the day. According to the weather, and really from the look of the clouds, that was not supposed to happen. It was a beautiful day and I feel honored to have been a part.
If Kendon and I had to do our wedding all over again, I definitely would do it the way they did. A small intimate wedding gathered by family and close friends. And celebrating the rest of the night with good drinks and great food.
It was perfect.
